Cetatea TARTOD
La marginea vestică a comunei Vărșag, la intersecția Târnavei Mari și al pârâului Tartód, la o altitudine de 850 de metri, puteți găsi o urcare abruptă până la ruinele Castelului Tartod care datează din secolele XI-XII. (Din păcate, în scrierile istorice nu mai există prea multe informații despre această cetate).
După cercetările arheologice efectuate în anii 1960 se presupune că cetățile Tartod, Budvar, Kustaly, Firtos și Rapsonné au fost construite de regatul ungar pentru a se proteja de popoarele estice.
Probabil până la sfârșitul secolului al XII.-a, și-a pierdut destinația, a fost părăsită, iar ruinele au fost preluate de natură. Peisajul este ideal pentru cei cărora le place să facă drumeții, urcând în cel mult jumătate de oră până la ruine, care, din păcate, sunt doar rămășițe în forma unui mic zid de piatră acoperit cu mușchi ca semn al autenticității fostei clădiri. Pe acoperiș se poate observa o rămășiță de perete ovală de 75 x 37 m. În timpul cercetărilor nu s-a găsit urmă a clădire în interiorul peretelui dari câteva fragmente de vase de lut au fost descoperite în timpul săpăturilor.
